Round II Black and White

Another stab at creating masterful black and white photos using Photoshop. This time I used a split tone method where I chose to tint the highlights yellow and green to tint the shadows. Intersting effect, but I still haven't achieved the "glow" that Lorraine has on her images. I feel like this photo is still a bit washed out.

Round I Black and White

I have been following Lisa Lorraine's blog for about two months now. I'm not really a "baby" kind of girl and no one would describe me as bonkers about cute and adorable kids. In fact, my interest in kids is similar to my interest in dogs. I like them, but I really only want to be around my own kids/dogs. But like this photographer, I love shooting images of my children and creating art out of their most mundane daily actvities, like coloring on the living room floor or ripping the legs off of poor, innocent insects. What I fancy about her style is the way she processes her black and white images. They glow! Just recently, Lorraine posted an image of her son crouching down on the kitchen chair. My attention was immediately drawn to the sheen of the chair--it nearly jumped out of the screen! I thought, "I want the varnish on my kitchen chairs to dance with light like that (I would have to clean them first, though)." So, after some research about processing b/w digital photos, this is what I created.
